Good guesswork, Nancy Drew. I play guitar mainly, but I also sing, and I can play piano/keyboard and I’m passable at drums. I hope my time off from school is fun too. I’ve got to visit with a couple of old friends, but it’s been pretty dull otherwise. You should have a party or something. I would but I’m staying with my parents while I’m visiting and they’re ridiculously strict.
I’m not at the top of my class for nothing. Huh, you’re like a musical prodigy. You and my sister should talk sometime. She basically is in a long term relationship with her cello. A party sounds like it would be fun. We should plan it together, though. You could invite all the Degrassi alumni and I can invite all the current Degrassi students.
I don’t mind. I’m studying music, and I just finished for the semester so I’m visiting my parents and friends and stuff.
Oh that’s cool. I’m guessing if you’re studying music you play an instrument so what do you play? I hope your time off from school is fun. Not much has really been going on around town lately so I can see how gets a little boring.
Great to “meet” you as well. I’m doing good too, just bored out of my mind as usual. I got so used to being on campus at TU with so much to do that now I’m just…lost. haha.
I’ve been cursed with being bored too. What are you studying at TU and why are you back home? Sorry if I’m being a little too curious, haha. I’m an aspiring journalist, so it’s a bad habit that I’m nosy.
Whoa, that’s nuts. Recent graduate and former student body president of Degrassi. We’re destined to meet, obviously. :) How’re you?
Wow that is crazy. It’s great to meet the former president! :) I’m doing pretty good. How are you?
A whole lot of absolutely nothing! Hey there, I’m Sav, and I don’t believe I know you.
Hello, Sav. I don’t think I know you either. I’m Katie Matlin. Current student body president of Degrassi. It’s nice to meet you.
What’s everyone up to?
Fingers drumming against the marble counter top, Drew kept his gaze on the stack of letters, his heart pounding against his ribcage fiercely with anticipation. Inside of those letters were his entire future. Either he got in, or he didn’t. Two very different outcomes, and all he could do was hope to God that it wasn’t the latter.
He was thankful that Katie was coming over to give him some support as he opened them, and even though he felt a little stupid for needing moral support, he was glad that she had offered, because he couldn’t do it without her. He reached out, picking up the stack of six or so letter, shuffling through them as he thought about their outcomes. If he got into the colleges he had applied to, he would go off to college next year and then he’d make something of himself. But if he didn’t get in, he’d be off to work at McDonald’s while Katie was off becoming a successful journalist.
Shaking that thought from his head, he set the letters back down on the counter, waiting patiently for Katie’s knock. And soon enough, he heard it; her soft knocks echoing throughout the house. A smile graced its-way onto his lips as he walked out of the kitchen and into the hallway, making his way to the front door. Reaching out, he grabbed onto the door knob and twisted it open, pushing the thick piece of wood open to reveal his beautiful girlfriend. “Hey, baby. Thanks for coming over.” He said with a smile, stepping aside so she could walk inside. “Come in? The letters are on the kitchen counter.”
Katie smiled as Drew opened the door for her. She gave him a quick peck on the lips after walking in. “How about we bring them into the living room? We can open them together and try to relax as best as we can.” She suggested as she walked with him into the kitchen. She looked at the various envelopes and how each of them were sized differently.
She picked all of them up and placed them on the coffee table in the living room. She sat on the couch and motioned for Drew to come sit next to her. Katie could easily sense he was nervous so she took his hand in hers. Staring into the his eyes she said, “Hey, if any of these don’t come out the way you want them to, it’s not going to matter. We both know you’re going to university no matter what, so the outcome here isn’t going to really matter. You just have to think positively about this. I’ll still love you no matter what is inside these letters.” Katie looked down at the envelopes again.
“So which one would you like to open first?” She said while spreading them out on the table so Drew could easily pick one and open it.
// Sorry, I don’t feel really comfortable just giving that out. Sorry!
//Oh thank you! I know I should. :( I’ve just finished school, so I’ll be on much more and I’ll be more out there! Promise. :)
